Osteoporosis - The Julie Lewin Story
In October 2006, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. I made a personal decision to not take drugs. I am not advocating this decision one way or the other. I believe every person must make an informed decision about their own health at every turn.
In January 2007, my doctor strongly recommended that I either take the drugs or exercise rigorously. I accepted a challenge to exercise. This exercise regime involved a huge commitment for 12 months. I immediately began walking 4-8 hours per week and complete 4 x 1 hour clinical pilates sessions per week.
Osteoporosis is a silent disease and there are preventive measures you can take. My journey of discovery has been so much more than I expected.
I immediately got myself a walking buddy who has become a very special person in my journey. As each month passes, we inspire and motivate each other to higher standards of excellence in every area of our life . I highly recommend a walking buddy who wants to grow with you.>
Was this regime challenging? YES.
Did I want to stop? YES.
Did I stop? NO.
What happened? In the beginning, my body and bones hurt so much I needed painkillers. I took this as a good sign!! My bones were starting to regrow.
